What is the NatureStation?

The NatureStation consists of what we call 'wedges'. Each wedge is a 1/6th of a hexagon which goes to make the whole unit. Or, you can alternatively have a 3-wedge option for use on walls (see below).

Each wedge is a completely enclosed standalone unit which can be set up as a perfect home for many natural habitats, including:

• Mini Beasts and other insects
• Bees
• Rodents
• Plants
• Frogspawn
• Pondlife
• Hedgehogs
• Ants
• Worms

Because each wedge is self-contained, they can either have no bottom (i.e. direct to ground), waterproof linings (for pondlife/frogspawn), sealed bases (for adding soil for plants) or anything else you can dream up.

Wedges also come with different lid/front options. The basic wedges all come with a removable, lockable wooden lid. A lid 'insert' can sit beneath made from perspex, wire mesh or other materials which allow observation whilst keeping the content safe from harm from above.

The front options (shown above) are easily changed to suit your needs. For example, shown above are standard access hole, 'bee tubes' and a letterbox slot. These front entrances allow wildlife to enter the wedge and make homes inside. Because of the flexibility of the wedge system, we are constantly looking into alternative fronts/wedge options to add even more scope to the system.

Wedge options

Each wedge is bolted internally to its neighbour, forming a solid hexagon (or 1/2 hexagon). As standard we offer the 'basic' NatureStation (below, left) which comes with a centrally mounted planter unit which can be used to have flowers, small trees or other plants.

The planter unit can be swapped out for a Weather Pole, which has various options including a Frog Rain Gauge, Weather Station and Weather Vane. Another option is the Bird Pole which has a large bird box with three entrances and three internal compartments to encourage even more wildlife to the unit.

Finally shown below is the 3 wedge option, which is ideal where space is limited as it can be placed against a wall.
